Graphic artist and pioneer of urban art in the city of Brasilia, Brazil’s capital, Adriano Cinelli aka Onio has been carrying spray cans inside his backpack since 1999. Currently, Onio is known by the organized mess that he does with lines, it refer to organic pipes, urban agglomerations and impossible machineries, results of an obsessive painting or drawing that the artist calls “infinitografia.” His work explores a variety of colors to fill abstract or figurative contours, mainly dealing with the innocent iconography of the graffiti that was “pasteurized” by the entertainment industry in the 80s and 90s. His experiences and interventions in the city as a graffiti writer, following the tradition of writing a name on the wall with a spray can, are distilled in his studio work, painting on canvas with a brush, in a different rhythm and density.
