Alex Hornest (1972) is a painter and sculptor who lives and works in Sao Paulo, a city that inspires and makes him reflect on urban themes, in a playful and introspective way. He produces his works focusing on the relationship between cities and their inhabitants. His sculptures are made in wood, iron, porcelain and concrete, mixing casual objects of our daily life. In his paintings oil, acrylic and duco merge to create textures and contrasts with overlays that defines light, shadow, depth and distance. Inspired by everything around him, Alex focuses his efforts on a possible interaction between work and spectator, where ones existence depends of the existence of the other.
